Family Tree

Massachusetts is one of the most desirable places to go for music shows, weather it be Boston, Worcester, Cambridge, or smaller towns.  The venues in Massachusetts branch off within each other and make a family tree.  Music brings people closer together than ever and every venue has their own special way of doing it. One of the venues that is big with helping the community and helping everyone connect together is Starlite, located in Southbridge MA. When walking into Starlite, you can feel how different the atmosphere is there than in any other place. Everyone there gets along and there isn’t any fighting, they welcome people from all different cultures and accept them for who they are.  Many events happen there for the community  including art, meditation, music, holiday events, craft sales, dances, open mic, game night, and more.  You can’t leave there without making friends and more venues should have this sort of idealistic implement. It brings the community closer together forming relationships, businesses, and helps shape the town or city.

Color Killer

Do you like pop punk and grunge music? Check out these kids in Color Killer who are only of ages 8, 10, and 11. You wouldn’t expect these kids to be playing so well at such a young age.  They definitely have a bright future ahead of them, it seems more kids are becoming music artists at a very young age and are influenced by the ones around them. Progressing at such a young age brings many opportunities to the table, and also brings a sense of hope that acceptance will be more welcomed. The kids in Color Killer, Lincoln, Nate, and Matt all have colorful hair , hence the name of the band. With kids having dyed hair at such a young age as well, may have changes for the future of how society looks at others for having different colored hair and expressing themselves.

Analysts Stereotypes

Personality is a huge role in the music community. People who prefer only a limited genre , tend to judge how other people are by their music choice.  For example, people who like rap and don’t like rock may judge another person who listens to that music or vice versa.  Music does not define a person, it conveys feelings but not all these feelings may be true.  Some songs can be misleading and give off a totally different vibe than how the person truly is. Getting to truly know someone who has different music taste than you brings out a whole new level of understanding. Nobody has to like the same music; but rather than judgement of taste, focus on personality.

Support is Key

Hello everyone! This is Kat, I am a new member of the team and I am happy to be here. What I would like to bring to your attention this week is about the support from the audience at shows. There are many fans out there who like to see their favorite bands play at venues, but one thing that would be helpful to the music industry is if people stayed for bands that they don’t know. There have been way too many times where people start leaving after the bands go on that they wanted to see, then the last band or two are stuck with a small crowd and a whole lot less energy for their performance. This can be very disrespectful and can be very misleading to the bands . As a fellow friend of many musicians, I know how much compassion and hard work goes into the bands when making music. Those long nights staying up late to practice and all the traveling that is included, with barely any rest. They work their butts off to make themselves happy and make others happy!  By staying to watch all the bands you may:

(1) Find a band you really like.

(2) Support a band that is trying to get out there.

(3) Show respect to all the bands that are playing.

(4) Make more friends.

(5) Lastly to just have fun!

The bands that are big now, that you all love dearly were once those same bands struggling to get the word out and be more successful in the music industry. So please support your local bands and let their dreams become a reality. Thank you to everyone in the music scene! patandkenzi
